IDX Files on top level of harddrive

I've got fully 1293 idx files on the top level of my harddrive, which appeared a few months back, but are starting to annoy me now!

All are 1kb, with a four character alphanumeric filename in the format aaaa, aaan, aana, or aann.idx

Can these all be deleted, or should they be left there? I have no idea what idx files are, which is why they've survived for months!

Thanking you in advance....

Do you have nero? If so, they could be the nero database files for when nero checks the internet for a CD.

Can you collect the lot and transfer them to a new folder somewhere, then see if they are missed?
Leave the original folder (if it exists) empty.

All seems okay with the idx files moved to a new folder, and 'yes', I do have Nero!

Thanks both for the help...
