You may be able to tell from the fcc number or identification marks on the motherboard.

I use CPU-Z for Motherboard and Memory information. The information is both detailed and very accurate.

One of the things I like about it is that there is no need to install anything. You just unzip the files and run the .exe Could not be simpler.

Dells are notoriously hard to upgrade / overclock as Dell deliberately lock the BIOS so you cannot make any changes.

Hey thanks for the responses.

LastChip - didnt really want to open up the pc.

Tabvla - thanks i know what socket im using now but it says my chipset is a i945p/pl/g/gz and i didnt know that existed.

spuds - another good app.

Fruit Bat /\0/\ - looks very similar (as far as i can tell) but graphics cards are different if that matters.

Yeh, im just really wondering if my motherboard will be able to upgrade to conroe.
