Is it possible to connect an IDE and a SATA hard drive to the same motherboard at the same time asuming that the motherboard has got both types of connectors. If the answer is yes are there any snags or things to watch.

Yes it is possible, even if mobo has no SATA ports - one can get adapter SATA/IDE. Should be no problems.

Snags = boot order, make sure the drive with the op system is set as first boot device.

Boot order can either be MAster IDE drive or the drive connected to the SATA1 port
