ide to sata?

Hi, i have a dvdrw optical drive that uses the old big ide cables, but on my current p5n-e motherboard (soon to be upgraded) uses sata connections. for example my hard drive is connected via sata, and so is my samsung lightscribe drive. The problem is the lightscribe drive is slower at reading the disc, and i have this spare dvd drive which is much faster. i need this other drive connecting for better performance, but how can i connect it to sata, when the back of it is ide?

Your motherboard also has IDE connectors - use one of those.

is there any performance difference? i know sata hard drives perform slightly better in sata then ide, does that rule apply here?

If the drive is IDE it can only perform like an IDE drive.

It'll probably be faster on IDE than through an interface converter anyway.

just ordered a abit ip35 motherboard, so im assuming that has a ide connector too, will try and hook it up that way then.
