Whats the diff between ide and sata hard disks.... cause the cost is same for both.. than what will be the difference.... my friend having a old pc which does'nt support sata.. he is planning to get a new pc and now he is in confusion whether to buy a SATA or IDE.. cause if he could buy IDE he can use it on both pc's... so what do u guys suggest.. is there any considerable difference...??.... tell me in point of gaming... will IDE affect any performance in gaming?....

SATA is faster if buying new go or SATA.

as Fruit Bat /\0/\, states SATA is marginally faster, but the main point to consider, is that now you will only get one IDE channel on most motherboards, and this will almost certainly be used for optical drives.

Sata, is definitely the way forward now.

I have both IDE & SATA drives installed and can't notice any difference.
