Icons or tiles?

  Duncanf 23:32 04 Aug 04

For some reason, when I open folders, the files are shown as 'tiles' rather than icons. When I close the folder, I select 'view' and change the marker from 'tiles' to 'icons' and everything is great yet when I go back later, it's reverted itself to 'tiles' which are far bigger than the icons!! Any idea for keeping them as 'icons'?
Thanks in anticipation.

1. In the explorer window select your view of choice, (in your case icons).
2. Select Tools, then Folder Options, and then View.
3. Make sure the option "Remember each folder's view settings" is ticked.
4. If not, tick it, then click Apply.

However, even with that box ticked,it does appear to be a common problem and might require a registry edit. click here for details (towards the bottom of the page).

In Explorer, click the window view you require, then click the Tools/Folder Options/View/Apply to all Folders,it asks if your sure to apply those settings to all windows, click yes and any windows you open in future will have the same setting.
