Icon tray anarchy

Running Win XP Home. For some reason my icon tray decides to shrink and enlarge itself at will, i.e. one minute all the icons are visible, and the next about half of them disappear although the programmes are still running as required. Sometimes, left clicking in a gap in the tray brings them back (for a while) but more often than not it doesn't.

Really annoying me.

that is one of the useful features of windows XP. It hides the inactive icons in the icon tray to increase the size of the taskbar. you can turn it off in the start menu options. But i think it is kinda cool

choose properties and look to lower right corner and click on, customise highlight each one in turn and choose from, always show/hide when inactive/always hide. Click on apply and exit from menu. J.

I agree with Steve N, think it's an excellent feature. :o)

Many thanks. And yes, it is neat because I'm leaving the ones I don't want hidden.
