Having just loaded Win XP Pro I was really pleased withe new transparent desktop icons and shadows

I dont know whats caused it but my icons have now reverted to solid background colours and nothing I do will bring back the original setup.

Can anyone help - really disappointed at the mo :-(

Right click on desktop, left click on properties, click on appearance tab, then effects, then place a tick in the, show shadows under text box.

Thats the first thing I tried....no joy

I think theres an issue with XP as Ive found an article in the Knowledge Base by searching in the Knowledge Base

Typical Microsoft answer to problem? 'Dont do it in the first place!' (precised answer but amounts to same)

Thing is I dont know what i did!

Should have been "Show shadows under menus" Try again with a re-boot, shouldn't really be necessary but worth trying. j.
