In My Computer what does a drive Icon with a supporting hand beneath it signify?

Pretty Please!

I think that means "Shared item" or similar.

"Contains files and folders shared between users of this computer."

Shared via network, with users on other computers. The hand doesn't appear under folders `shared` on your own machine.

Thanks folks!

Hi, just as a matter of interest -

"The hand doesn't appear under folders `shared` on your own machine."

It does on mine, in My Computer.

Your welcome - no such thing as a stupid question on this Forum, as long as it is a genuine question - 'cos we do get the occasional 'wind-up' LoL ...

The same applies, if you're not running a home network unshare it - Windows will still allow you to share the drive if the Networking components are installed, even if you're not connected to other machines. If you are running a home network, sharing the root of a drive is not recommended unless it's purely for file storage.

Good point - I only share occasionally, so I have un-shared it for now. Cheers.
