Hi, I have a samsung galaxy s2 and I am trying to find out will my apps and data be wiped if i upgrade to ICS. Any advice?

I doubt it.

I didn't lose anything on my S1 when I went to Honeycomb.

Have a look on the Galaxy sII forums

You may find that you you have to re-install your purchased apps.

Correction:- for purchased apps read downloaded apps.

Probably keep all ok. I went from Froyo to gingerbread on the S1 without any snags. If you use Kies then it will automatically back up everything and if all goes wrong you can restore.

morddwyd - did you mean Honeycomb?

Have you had a look on the Samsung support site see How to upgrade
