  waylander69 21:56 31 Jul 07

Just purchased an IBM Thinkpad T21 2647-8BG , it has 128 meg of PC100 ram installed, I wanted to upgrade the memory so went to crucial and they say it should take pc133 up to a max of 256 per slot, hmmmm smell a rat somewhere or will the laptop take either pc 100 or pc 133
advice would be much appreciated, can't find a user manual on the IBM website so any

PC133 will work, the numbers relate to the speed of the memory - PC133 is backward compatible with PC100

" or will the laptop take either pc 100 or pc 133 "

yes it will because pc133 is backwards compatable with pc100. So you are 100% safe.

thats a relief as I thought , crucial couldn't be wrong so bought a 256 pc133,
ok now for the silly moment, if pc133 is backward compatable, can you mix it with pc100 in the opposite slot ?

many thanks for the quick response
