IBM A20 Laptop - DVD Rom not recognised in XP

I have an IBM A20 Laptop with an internal Toshiba DVD-ROM that was running all okay on Windows 2000 Professional. I decided to reformat the hard drive and re-install Windows XP and during the XP installation is keeps mentioning that certain files can't be found and when XP is fully loaded it is unable to see the DVD-ROM drive in MY COMPUTER but I can see the drive in the hardware setting where it has a YELLOW exclamation mark against it. I have tried uninstalling and installing it again but can't seem to get it working! Any help would be appreciated. I don't have the original Windows 2000 Pro disks as it was a 2nd hand laptop I bought recently.
