Looking to buy a Laptop for student son who will be using OpenOffice along with the usual social browsing habits, not sure whether to get a Pentium Dual Core type with loads of RAM or get the new i3 processor. Any tips on how to compare?

13 is best but for the tasks you mention the cheapest will do.

Go for i3, laptop will be slightly more 'future proof'.

Some good deals at eBuyer click here.

Sorted by ascending prices click here. I would go for one with at least 3Gb RAM & £350-400 price range.

A good one for £400 at Amazon click here with 4Gb RAM, dual-core CPU & 500Gb hard disk. You'll be hard-pressed to get a better deal for the money. G
