I want to save all my e mails before formatting

I want to save all my e mails before formatting my C: drive. Can anyone tell me a way to do this please? I did try going into FILE..FOLDERS.. COMPACT but all I get is "this is still in use" or something. Anyone help please?

The way to do it is as follows.

Create a folder in windows explorer.

In outlook Express (presume this is your email client) selct all items in saved folder and drag them into the new folder.

You will then have copies of all your saved emails, they will all be .eml files.

To restore drag them back into OE saved folder.

Just tried it and it works for me.

You can always test the process by creating a new folder in OE (before formatting) and drag them back to test it.
