Yep I did all the virus scan i used the MS security update cd they sent frm Febuary

Whats bugging me is that this has carried over frm 2 reinstalls over last week

So is it motherboard related or cpu :(

memory ive checked in a m8's pc

dont fancy stripping mothertboard

Did you install the keyboard and mouse drivers, if so try another clean install and let windows sort the drivers out. Only put the disk in if win xp askes for them.

Have you changed the batteries in your mouse and or keyboard? (basic I know !)

Yep its weird wth the wireless keyboard cause all over the instructions and taped to cables in warning to install software 1st..

if the sounds stutters then the mouse is jery but is sound ok mouse is

Its the stuttering sound that troubles me...its stutters on windows start up and then all sound uses...but if it loads on windows startup ok its fine ???..confused

I have a 14lb one you can borrow

  woodchip 20:35 27 Mar 04

I had this problem after I had to fit a spare PSU it was not providing enough power, It disappeared after a new 500watt PSU was fitted

  woodchip 20:37 27 Mar 04

PS to check this out you could remove some Hardware power plugs to see if it corrects the problem, or extra PCI cards that's been fitted like sound etc

you maybe should have tried system restore to go back a few days to when all was well maybe first before re installing xp.

is windows all up to date again click here

is your motherboard chipset drivers up to date? check and download the latest version from the motherboard manufacturers website maybe.

is DMA enabled for your cd drive and hard drive? check in "start/control panel/performance and maintenance/system/hardware/device manager"

highlight the "IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers" select primary and secondary IDE channels one at a time and click "properties/advanced settings" set both to "DMA if available"

check also:right click the task bar and select "task manager" click "performance" the cpu usage at 100%?

then just in case,is your av software up to date also? run a full scan.

try also running a check for spyware with spybot and adaware and remove anything they find click here click here
