i have a pentium 2.8 1 gig hard drive on win xp
i hear a clicking noise and then my computer freezes. last time this happened it never came back on and i had to format it.
Any suggestions please?

Are you sure you mean its a 1G HDD as this would make getting XP and a few other programs a very tight fit.

Sounds like your hard drive is expiring. Only remedy, if it is, is replacement.

Do a scandisk and see if it reports any errors.
Can you say/discribe what your doing when it happens (the clicking noise)and if it is soon after you boot up.

Open up my computer right click on properties and the info will be there to say what size of drive you have and how much space is left.It is "windows xp" your running?

You may have a corrupt MBR, but not sure how you correct this in XP

what make is the drive ? most manufactorers have there own software you can download to test the condition of your drive.
