I keep getting kicked off

My wifes laptop keeps losing signal but my laptop

Can you post with details of the operating systems on both machines as well as the hardware specification.

Both laptops are running XP. We have DSL. Hers is a ThinkPad
with Linksys Neywork PC card (updated). Mine is a
Gateway with no problems.
She has just started to have this problem.

Try uninstalling the linksys card & software and reboot; then install the card and software again.

This is a PCMCIA card, yes?

Try using it without the software (driver only). This is a universally common method with USB adapters; there are probably slightly fewer PCMCIA cards that will run without software but the odds are still good that it will. The last TypeII PC card hat I used ran happily without software.

Search in Networking for details; the same procedure applies to both types of adapter.
