I can`t get full 16:9 when editing DVD

  pub 20:16 08 Dec 08

I have just started video editing on my laptop.I`m loading the video from DVD using windows movie maker. The problem I have is that when I play the DVD to edit sections out , it won`t go on a 16:9 setting although the DVD is recorded in 16:9 format ( it plays fine on Media player ).After editing the video and saving it , it still plays 4:3 rather than 16:9.I have checked all the settings are set at 16:9 , they all are.Help please , I need to crack this one.

In Windows Movie Maker menu bar, click on Tools, then Options then the Advanced tab, the video properties box there lets you specify how video is captured and movies are saved either 4:3 or 16:9 Don't know whether that's what you mean, Les.

I`ve already tried this les , and saved settings etc. before I put the DVD in.But still no 16:9.

Is this a dvd recorded on a stand alone player if so and it plays in 16:9 before editing then you dont seem to have lost the flag.Take it you are on Vista

You don't seem to be the only one with this problem, don't know whether this is similar, but there's a workaround in the last posting at foot of this page

Meant to add if you wanted to try the workaround idea, you could download the free trial version of videoredo tv here
