I believe that my neighbour has a virus.....

  Les 14:56 11 Nov 03

or rather his computer has! :-)

On switching on and after the preliminaries of signing on (Windows XP) a box comes up informing him that Windows is closing down after 60 seconds due to a RPC fault. Would I be right in thinking that this is the blaster virus?

If so, what can he do?

Your answers will, as always, be appreciated.

Thanks - I've done that and will post later with the result.

FixBlast fixed it and I did get the patch from Microsoft - I installed that first and then used the fix program directly from the floppy disc I had put it on when downloading from Symantic.

Thanks a lot - all his problems appear to be fixed and I have advised him to get AVG but, knowing him, he'll put it off until he runs into trouble again - he's not, like us, a computer enthusiast - 'nuff said.

Once again, thanks

Your welcome!

But the real credit must go to VoG and Jester11K. It was Jester who first jumped on this problem some weeks back and spent many hours in the forum helping many people to get "Blaster" off their systems. j.
