Hypertext Links with HTML

I have two frames forming a web page the left of which is a menu and the right the main page. At first, all the main menu items are displayed by themselves. However, each menu item has several sub-items which are displayed when the main menu item is clicked (below the main menu item and in a smaller font). Clicking on one of these sub-links displays the relevant page in the main frame, stil leaving all of the sub-menu items visible in the left pane. However, what I want to do is make another page open in the main frame when the top level menu link is clicked as well as the sub-menus appearing.

What I really need to do then, is to have a link which changes two frames at once. Can anyone tell me how to do this?
