hyperlink problems

I have Windows XP
On some web pages I used to be able to click through to another by their hyperlinks (usually a picture) but the pictures or adverts do not appear, how can I fix this?

Try this go to Internet Options/ Advanced/ scroll down and in Multimedia make sure there is a tick in show pictures.

Thanks, rawprawn, I had already done that and it hadn't made any difference

Look for the file C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (no file extension). If you find it, rename it to hosts.txt and restart your computer.

Sorry, Vog, done the search but the file was not found

Just to claify: are you saying that the picture that you want to click on doesn't appear? Or you click on a picture and nothing happens?
