Whether this suggestion will work I`m not certain, but having had similar problems in the past it did work for me.
Create a `Restore` point. If you have ERUNT click here the make a backup of your Registry for `belt & braces`
Run Ccleaner click here to clean all rubbish from both the System and Registry.
Run RegScrubXP click here using the `RegScrubXP Finds Problems` selection and `Select` and `Fix` everything it finds.
If it all fails to work as you want and you feel you have lost anything you can always either `Restore` or recover using ERUNT.
