hp psc 1355 vista printing issues (cont'd)

I have just installed Vista and tried printing using hp 'satin matte paper' setting on above printer. the prints came out in 'psychodelic' colours. i tried using 'plain paper' and 'hp glossy' settings and prints were ok. i understand that vista says the printer requires no drivers but i cant see the cartridge levels etc as there are no hp utilities loaded. searches for 'vista compatible printers' proved fruitless. are there any hp printers fully compatible with Vista or do i wait ad infinitum for an update and resort to using xp for the foreseeable future?

I do not no of a hp printer but I use vista and I use a Canon MP 510 with very good results. Am very pleased with the stanard and sharpness of the prints.I searched every for this one and finaly found one at Argos
