HI MY COMPUTER ONLY HAS 224MB OF RAM INSTALLED AND I HAVE ANOTHER MODULE AT HAND OF 256MB WHICH I WAS THINKING OF ADDING TO BOOST THE SYSTEM AS IT HAS BECAME SLOW AND SLUGGISH, MY PC REQUIRES AN 128PIN PC3200 400MHZ DDR400 MODULE. THE MODULE THAT I HAVE IS THE SAME AS THE ONE IT REQUIRES. click here THIS SITE SAYS THAT MODULES HAVE TO BE INSTALLED IN PAIRS ON THIS SYSTEM, HOWEVER, I AM NOT SURE IF I WILL BE ABLE TO WORK MY MODULE IN MY SYSTEM, ANY1 HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS.

If you go to click here you can check which memory you need.

Having 244mb available from 256mb installed suggests that the graphics is built into the motherboard. It is worth checking to see if you can install a separate graphics card as this will boost the PC as well as installing extra RAM...

i found the type of memory that i need and it is the same as the one i have got however it says that it needs to be installed in pairs, i have a 224 already in with the computer (which was marketed as a 256) and i have a 256 which i wanted to add, would this class as a pair

The 224 is really 256mb with 32mb being used by the onboard graphics , so just put the other one in and you'll see that all is Ok and you will have 480mb available ( 512 - 32 = 480 ).

I would imagine that you have just one stick of ram in your PC , by adding the second you will have enabled what is called " dual channel " meaning the memory will work together better , that is what the Crucial advisor was meaning when it said about fitting in pairs .
