have been looking at new systems to replace my ageing socket 478 p4 2.4,a friend yesterday got a hp pavilion with amd 3500,1gbddr2,160gb hd,16xlightscribe dvd writer, nvidia 7300le graphics card and windows media centre all for £400,having looked at this myself i cant help but feel it appears to run slow not much faster than mine in fact
Is this because the amd 3500 is a pretty slow chip?doesnt seem to be a significant amount faster than my p4 2.4
anyone had one of these

I would get something with a core 2 duo.

The AMD 3500 is a decent enough processor.

Appearances of PC speed is very relative in my experience though... in what applications is the PC slow?

If you have a pentium 2.4ghz, it will probably be equal to the 3500 in many situations anyway...

Finally, does the HP have integrated graphics?

citadel, im on a budget and cant afford a core duo i would have though the amd athlon 3500 with ddr2 ram would be significantly faster at opening applications, decoding video files and overall a much faster system but it appears not to be
graphics card is a pci express 7300le(not on board)
note my p4 is the old socket 478 not one of the newer ones
