Hello, my friend's laptop is showing 4 exclamation marks in Device Manager, please see here:

Device manager, view tab, show hidden devices. What is showing there? Might be uninstalled printers or something similar.

Can anyone help please?

I got something like that with a mobile phone connected that wasn't recognised. Can you not uninstall each unidentified device? System restore point first.

Sorry for that- it is a HP DV6500 Notebook PC

Perhaps i should uninstal each one and then see what happens......

Hi again, ok i have uninstalled the four of them and everything seems to be working ok? Is this alright? What on earth could it be?

Answer

Uninstalled peripherals that left some legacy. Once removed from device manager then registry cleared.
