I have increased ram to 160mb and changed hard drive to 20GB fdisk and formatted in ntfs and loaded xp home fine if i then restart fine however if i leave overnight it will take approx 8 minutes to boot up
i have done scandisk no errors and diskdefragmentor no problems
does any body have any ideas why it take so long to boot the following day ( This is on mains or battery)
Slow boot up of various modes of XP have been well covered. A search in the left pane wil give many posts. The reasons are many. SP2 with its many security checks adds to boot up time. As does any A/V software. An overly large 'Start group' of programs will increase boot time- reduce these to the one or two that you use immediately on start up. Use of a good system scan to clear out unwanted/used files - CCcleaner/Ashampoo/Norton all carry out this task.
