HP Laptop some keyboard keys refuse to work!

I have an HP Pavilion 9000 Laptop purchased in September 2007, only just over 3 months old, but certain keys are now refusing to work. Certain letters and the caps lock, tab buttons etc won't register when pressed. I've tried all the usual workarounds e.g. system restore etc, but no joy.
I've checked HP Forums and it looks like there are a number of issues with key stroke failures with a variety of HP Notebooks.
Advice from anyone who has encounterd similar keyboard problems and solutions would be appreciated.
If the issue can't be resolved do I have the right to return to seller (Comet) and request a replacement?
