HP F2280 start up?

  Hedontownee 07:28 02 Mar 09

Recently got a new printer HP F2280!
Very good and just what I need
However why does the printer start up when I boot up the computer. It switches on and initialised itself ready for use
My previous HP Deskjet
Did not startup unless I actually manually switch it on or called up a print operation from the computer , i.e. print a document.
The startup and initialisation is quite noisy on the F2280
Any comments or thoughts on this Folks
Thanks in advance

See if it is being launched from the Startup folder or the registry. For XP, this would be in:

C:\Documents & Settings\{username}\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

and, for the registry, look in the Startup tab of MSCONFIG

("Start > Run", type MSCONFIG and click OK)

Many thanks for quick response.Running Vista here now!!
I checked the registry by using the msconfig facility
I have disabled 3 (three) entries that relate to the Hewlett Packard
All appears to working OK
and it didnt start up on bootup
But needs to be manually started when required
Thats fine ..I prefer to do that !
The printer is however quite noisy at switch on
I presume its carrying out a self test and initialisation process
I will have to live with that :-)
