HP F2280 All in One Printer will not install

Today I bought the above printer for my Acer Aspire 5315 Vista Home Basic laptop. It will not install properly and has CRASHED twice. I have uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it again. Rebooted it and nothing works. I have even done an HP update, still nothing works. An error message comes up with (Quote - "Now launching =X:\hpzmsi)1.exe -list photosmartessentialmin -commit "-*Stub" "787058" "/rerun" "1" -1XXX -f
CreateFile (X:\hpomdl27.dat) fails with 2 Unquote)
HP comes up with a message that says "An automated fix for this problem is not available at this time". Please can someone help me fix this problem or it will go in the bin. I need very simple instructions as I am not very technically minded.

this could be a faulty printer? Did you follow the instructions from hp ie do not connect the printer until you have installed the software and set some things up. The prog then says to plug in the printer. If you did not follow their procedure I suggest you do a system restore then do as they say.
