HP DV1000 laptop back to factory settings - help

  Hendrikus 19:08 14 Sep 10

I have a HP Pavilion DV1000 laptop which I haven't used for a while. I wanted to take it on holiday as it's not a problem if it gets stolen. It's incredibly slow so wanted to reset it to factory settings. Could someone help please?

I have the folowing cd's if that helps:

HP Quickplay (application restore CD
HP Image zone plus
Application and driver recovery DVD
Operating system CD (XP home SP2)

I think you just keep tapping F10 or f11 as the computer starts.

F11 is the Restore key to tap at startup, if a backup was created when new

f10 is for bios setup

Can we start from the beginning as i am not sure what I'm doing please?

If you have trouble making F11 work this comes from another forum:

It was a hidden file in D:\HP_Recovery\MiniNT\System32\start.exe

after I clicked that start.exe file open, a message came up that said something like "getting the drive ready", and then I was able to reboot and make the F11 key work.
after that it was a breeze, no disks needed.

Yes I have that on my HP Laptop but it will not let me look in folders though on Partition D:\ I have got files set to not hidden
