HP Deskjet 5550 printer problem

I hope someone out there can give me some pointers.

I have had the HP deskjet 5550 for about 4 years, never had any problems with it until today when I wanted to print a document.

When I pressed print, it just sends out a blank piece of paper.
I have tried printing different things with the same result.
I have checked the usb cable by replacing it with a known good one.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver.
It will print a page when you press the two print test buttons actually on the printer but not a test page from the computer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it prints off a test then it is working OK, its just not talking with the PC.

This could be connection cable, usb port, drivers, or print software. Check usb port and cable with another device if poss. See if there are any updated drivers for the printer. Re-install software.

Is it showing up OK and on-line under control panel > printers?
