hp c4380 on network

My sister in law has bought a laptop with windows 7 on and it found the printer ok on the network. When she prints something occasionally it wont print , just says the printer has documents in a Que. I had to reinstall the printer last time and was ok for a couple of months but now it wont print again.
Any ideas , was thinking of downloading a new driver ?

Check first of all that there aren't actually any documents in the queue...

Go to "Control Panel > Devices and Printers", double click the Printer to open its Properties then double click the item "See what's printing", which will open the printer's window. There will be a list of the queued documents in there. From the 'Printer' menu, select "Cancel all documents". Once cleared, you should be able to start again with nothing blocking the print queue.

Also you can restart the printer as sometime (even quite rare) document are stocked in the printer memory (when it has one) in that case, just restart the printer.

And check that network is actually fine. If the printer is on the network and network drop (even for a few seconds) it can create a broken queue in the printer. PC think there's something to print, but printer cannot do the job as a network cut has happened while transferring the file and both PC and printer are all upside down not doing anything anymore (printing wise). Only one thing then, shut both down and restart both.

Good luck
