HP 2133 BIOS problems

Hi all,

I am hoping for a bit of advice on a HP 2133 laptop.
Basically since a windows update was downloaded and installed the laptop will now not boot up at all.
Each time it is started it receives a different BIOS error code.
I have tried downloading the latest BIOS but the laptop does not have a CD drive and the BIOS doesn't have an option for booting from USB.
I have also stripped the laptop down and disconnected the CMOS battery, left it for 10 minutes and then reconnected - still the same.

Any ideas?

what error codes?

Is there anything on the laptop that needs backing up?

If not, have you tried a full system recovery. This is accessible by pressing the F11 key I think.

Which OS do you have installed? G

The error codes change every time, the last one I got was error code = FFFF.
I have tried accessing system recovery but F11 does not direct me to the resotre facility, the option is shown - it just doesn't work.

I hate to reference other threads, but:

seems that a bios update may be the way to go. Do you have a spare usb storage device? Look in the bios and check if it can boot to usb devices.

Sorry ive just read the part about not having usb capabilies. my bad.

Thats ok.
The HP site give a piece of software which creates a bootable bios disc from USB and cd, neither of which I can use.
Not sure why they would do this.

Did you use their special utility click here to create the bootable USB disk? This will make the drive display as bootable in the BIOS & be selectable there.

Once done, copy the unzipped BIOS file(s) to the bootable USB disk & try again. G

I didn't use that utility as it won't work on my current laptop (Windows 7).

Right, I see. Then use this method click here to create it. G

Here's another click here. G
