Howe to get rid of a system tray icon

Hello there
How can I get rid of the icon in the system tray that is 2 greyed computers - right click - Local Area COnnection - a network cable is unplugged.
I have 1 PC, no network connected and even after setting it to "always hide" it annoyingly comes back on every reboot.

Right click taskbar, Properties, Taskbar tab, Customize button

Click start>connect to>show all connections.
Right click on your LAN icon and click disable.

Right click>open network connections>right click LAN OR LOCAL AREA CONNECTION(2)icon and choose disable....TT
