How to work with a CD R?

  markdavid 11:40 11 Oct 06

I need to work with a CD-R with Microsoft Access data on it. The message r"ead-only file" keeps coming up when I try to change data. How can I get to work with the CD? Do I need to put it onto my hard drive? If so, how? I have Access on my pc, but can only read the CD on it.
Please can you help?

Copy the file to your computer.
Right click it and deselect the "read only" property / attribute

When files are written to CD/DVD they are always copied as "Read-Only".

The file on CD-R disk can not be altered you can only alter files saved on a formatted CD-RW disk using a program like Nero InCD.

If you open the file do the changes. When you want to save the changes sellect File/save as and save it to your hard drive.

Thanks HondaMan. I know this is basic stuff, but you have solved my problem very easily.
Many thanks to you and to Brynit.
