How to transfer internet setting to another comp

  Cara2 19:05 30 Nov 08

I have been trying to connect another computer to my wireless broadband.

The easiest way, I think would be to download the setting from my computer via a flash drive, and install on the other computer.

How do I do this. I am using Windows vista, and Orange Broadband if this is any help.

I am not familiar with Vista, but in XP one simply follows the on-screen prompts when running the Network Setup Wizard from the Control Panel.

You are correct about using a flash drive to transfer the settings.

On my Netgear router there is an option to back up the settings which you can do to a file or to a flash drive then you can open the router on the new pc and use the Restore Saved settings.

Thanks for replies.

It seems that XP SP2 can be problematic when trying to connect wirelessly when downloading settings from another comp.

Have followed instructions for Microsoft knowledgebase and did, briefly, connect to the internet wirelessly via my other comp.

However when I shut down comp and restarted, I was unable to connect again....grr. My head is mashed over it all! Time to start up another thread.

Thanks again.
