How to stop a word with @ in it turning into link

  lahorie 16:57 16 Mar 09

I have a problem, everytime i type a word into an email like [email protected] the word turns into a link. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Word > Tools > Options > Autocorrect > AutoFormat as you type.

Take the tick out of "Internet and Network paths with hyperlinks"

The email client (Outlook Express) does this automatically. I don't know whether it can be turned off.

Can you not spell base with an a?

I thought it did not turn into a link, if you put a space before or after the @

Hi All

It is Outlook which i am working with. It is one word so leaving a space would be an issue.

Then it would spell b @se.

You could insert the word as a picture. Are you using Vista, by any chance? The Snipping tool would make that easy.

Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express? Eitherway, send as plain text, not HTML.

Im using XP pro Graham. Maj I will try your suggestion, this looks to be the best way.
