How to set folder options to show details by defau

I have Windows XP Home XP-1

In Folder Options, I cannot find anywhere to set permanently that I want to see Details rather than Tiles in "My Computer". I am set to Windows Classic Folders. I can pick it every time I open a window, but can't see where to set it as the default.

there is an option on the taskbar of explorer which when your mouse is hovered over the top says "views" have you selected the way you want your files to be displayed from here?

First set your folder to Detail view then go to Tools, Folder Options, View tab, and click the button marked "Apply to All Folders".
