how to save the registry in a folder on the dektop

I have a dell prlx8 computer 16.2.99

I am aware that every time you start your pc the registry is backed up, and if you run scanreg you can update the registry.

on a pc magazine I read of how to save the registry in a file/folder on the desktop. I have lost the article and would be grateful for advice on how to do it.

Start, Run, type

regedit

and click OK.

File/Export and save to the desktop.
