how to replace system32.exe in xp?

my system32.exe file was recently infected with sdbot trojan virus. upon tryingto clean my pc of this using McAfee viruscan the only way to clean it was viruscan deleted my system32.exe file, now everytime I log onto my pc I get the message "windows could not find C:\windows\sytem32.exe" which is annoying. is there anyway of replacing this file with an uninfected one, or stopping this message appearing.

system32.exe does not exsist on my system. I think this may have been the virus's name.

So Windows will look for it when the computer starts but its not their so it will not find it.

You have to delete the entry from the registry.

Go to start > Run > Type: regedit

Click ok and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Delete the entry to system32.exe.

But back up the registry before you do click here

Looks like you have another virus called Mari

system32.exe is not a system file so you do not need to replace it!

or HAD another virus.

Basically whatever it is system32.exe is not a windows system file.
