How to reactivate firewire connection?

i have accidentally uninstalled the firewire connection by mistake. all the drivers are still within system folder but i just cannot reactivate the connection. can anyone please shed some light on this subject? much appreciated. system win xp sp2.

Try removing it via the device manager and rebooting - hopefully Windows will recognise it and reinstall for you.

i rather not system restore because it was months ago before i removed it by accident and i sorted out my networking recently so.........

try removing your firewire card from the computer all together and boot without it,shutdown, then re-insert it in the computer and see if windows picks it up as new hardware on boot up
