How to make 2 subnet communicate

  fancytee 16:08 PM 26 Oct 11

I have 2 subnet on the network, 192.168.10.x and 192.168.30.x.

192.168.30.x can ping .10.x and print from the printers on .10.x but 192.168.10.x can not ping or print from the other subnet (.30.x)

192.168.30.x --- GW -

The whole point of the Subnet Mask is to prevent the different Subnets from communicating.

If you have a main router using the subnet and a second router as a "LAN client" of the main router and using the subnet, this may let you access 192.168.10.x addresses from the main router, but it won't work the other way round.

You could try using the subnets and with the Subnet Mask to see if that works the way you want. (Note the different Subnet Mask address used with 10.x.x.x addresses.)
