How long to boot up ....?

Hey Guys!

How long should I expect my trusty ol laptop to bootup with XP Pro?

Is it my imagination or is it getting slower? I have timed it at 4 minutes from Splash screen to being able to start a program.

I suspect that Windows Update Downloads have something to do with it.

And before anyone asks, No! I don't have loads of programs running in the system tray. Just Zone Alarm and network connection icon.

30 seconds or so is the norm. My desktop takes less than that to boot up and I have an embarrassing amount of start ups. I don't have a firewall though ;-)))

A bit long - mine (desktop) takes a minute and a half. Try running click here

XP Pro. 29 seconds from pressing the go button on the tower unit to a fully working desktop. 2 seconds later I can be typing the first word in "Word". j.

Mine's about 20 secs from power on to fully ready, including the RAID array waking up.
