does anyone have one of those gadgets which reads all diferent types of card eg smartmedia, compactflash, mcc, microdrive etc?
how fast do they transfer data? is this speed limited to the media or to the connection between the reader and the pc i.e. usb? i was thinking i could take the images straight off my old digital camera's smartmedia card through a reader rather than trying to transfer them throught the camera down a VERY slow serial cable connection.

I set up a Smart Card reader for a friend instead of using the old Serial Cable and it much much faster and easier. Just remember - only format the card and delete pic from the card IN THE CAMERA. You can get the readers fro £20 now. Good buy if you are taking lots of pics...

I use a USB compact flash and smartmedia card reader fsssh. The only problem I have had with it was that on occassion it wouldn't recognise that there was a card in it, other than that no problems.

Scan of Bolton (click here) does a 7 in 1 card reader for under £20; reads virtually all memory cards.
