How to format second HDD

  GBL 10:31 31 Dec 04

Having successfully installed a new HDD, with my old one now as a slave, I want to format it having removed all that I want from it.
But they both have XP installed on them, so I presume that is why I cannot format the slave drive.
What do I need to do??

USe your "windows installation disk" to "delete ALL the partitions".... Then boot into windows and go to "control pannel->Performance and Maintenance->Admistrative tools->Computer Management".... On the left you will have a "tree diagram" from which you can choose what you need to do.... Select "Disk Management" from the Storage root.... This allows you to then create partitions in the unallicated space from the drive that you have just "deleted"....

Alternatively, you can use a program like "Partition Magic" to format the drive and then partition it/use disk management to partition it!!!!

Or just Right Click on My Computer and choose Manage then Disk Manager. Right click on the old drive and format etc there.

Thanks Andy, had to force it to format but it all seems OK.
