How to format a hard drive in xp install

hi,

i am at the moment trying to install windows xp home edition. and i am at the point when it shows me all my partitions. Now my main partition is 19 GB so i want to format it. so what do i do? do i says D for delete partition or what.

Thanks i under stand that but i do not want to make any new partitions, i want to format my exsisting one so what do i press to format the exsisiting windows partition.

The next screen asked about formatting
select Format the partition using NTFS.

It doesn't matter a great deal; deleting the partition will create free space, which you can format. Same end result.
