how to flash a hard drive

To keep your hard drives up to date or to rule out a suspected problem, can you flash the firmware on a hard drive?

- Have never heard of it.

What you buy is what you get.

How you use it and keep the file structure organised makes a difference in accessbility and ease of access.

Depending on how much data is changed and whether the system is running smoothly or not - you can occasionally run Scandisk and even more rarely Defrag. There's usually no need to 'bully' your hardware like this if the system has been working well and not left temporary files all over the place
