How to extract data using VBA from non-office apps

I know how to extract data using VBA from say 'excel'. but is it possible to
do it from non-MS Office apps.

I've found that I could appear to do it using the 'shell' command to launch the app and then the 'SendKeys' command to simulate navigating the app to then be able to do a control C to copy..... but this looks very problematic as it could all go pear shaped if anything interupts the app (like a new email pop up message).

I've tried googling, but haven't come up with too much. Can anyone help or point me to a good VBA forum.

I'm pretty sure this cannot be done but try asking at click here and/or click here

daba 21:48 02 Oct 05 you need Excel to be set up as an OPC client.

Have a gander at click here

With Excel as an OPC client it should be relatively straightforward to gather data from it, providing of course your other app. supports OPC.

Not too hot on this myself, perhaps someone else could butt-in
