Hi
Have a problem with a trojan called bar888 , from what I have found out I need to delet it from the start-up in the registry and delete the file from windows folder.
Unfortunately not very familiar with editing the registry socan anyone advise how to get rid of this pesky vermin

Start, Run, type

regedit

and click OK.

Backup the registry first click here

I don't know if this works but at the bottom of the page click here is a removal tool.

The start up items are in 2 places usually (or 3 if you want to stretch it a bit).

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => MICROSOFT => CURRENT VERSION => RUN

HKEY_CURRENT_USER => SOFTWARE => MICROSOFT => CURRENT VERSION => RUN

And the third is directly under that one:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER => SOFTWARE => MICROSOFT => CURRENT VERSION => RUNONCE

But make sure you follow VoG's advice about backing up the registry first. Or at the very least the part of it you're messing with.

Bum holes!!!!

Sorry - got sidetracked copying/pasting. Should be:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER => SOFTWARE => MICROSOFT => CURRENT VERSION => RUN

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => MICROSOFT => CURRENT VERSION => RUN

And the third is directly under that one:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE => SOFTWARE => MICROSOFT => CURRENT VERSION => RUNONCE
